Academic — Curriculum Designer

Tokyo, Japan
The Curriculum Designer will be responsible for assisting the curriculum team in assembling and organizing materials to align with the company’s 5-level proficiency system, as well as in developing best practices and related guidelines.

Job responsibilities

The Curriculum Designer will report to the Chief Academic Officer and will be responsible for the following.
• Research into and proposal of vocabulary lists, organized by level
• Research into and proposal of grammar content to study, organized by level
• Description of proposed pedagogical strategies, including preparing teaching guidelines, mnemonics, and other learning strategies and cultural know-how

Qualifications

• 2 years of classroom language teaching to adults or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in language teaching, language acquisition, or equivalent
• B2 or higher English ability, especially in writing
• Ability to collaborate with existing content structures and workflow

Editorial — Group Language Editor

Tokyo, Japan
The Group Language Editor will own and enforce editorial standards for language-learning and related marketing materials targeting a portfolio of languages.

Job responsibilities:

The Group Language Editor will report to the Chief Academic Officer will be responsible for
• Reviewing all content produced for accuracy, grammar and style, and providing suggestions for edits when needed
• Ensuring that all content produced falls in line with editorial guidelines
• Organizing the collection of language content according to scenarios laid out by the curriculum team, including lines of dialogue and sample sentences
• Reviewing dramatic scenarios to ensure consistency in character behavior
• Collaborating with English proofreaders and quality assurance personnel to ensure high-quality English presentation of content
• Reporting on performance of proofreaders and quality assurance personnel

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English communications, journalism, or another related field
• Minimum 2 years of prior working experience as an editor
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Good judgement and decision-making skills
• Ability to handle many details
• Intermediate-level proficiency in at least one language taught by Innovative Language Learning
• A familiarity with the features of the language and culture of a number of related languages, or an ability to quickly get up to speed.

Editorial — Script Writer

Innovative Language Learning is seeking a script writer to develop high-quality, academic scripts for audio and video lessons.

Job responsibilities:

The Script Writer will report to the Editor-in-Chief and will be responsible for
• Collaborating with teachers and writing experts to create engaging audio and video scripts
• Following well-established style guidelines
• Helping prepare documentation based on these guidelines
• Adjusting the scripts based on feedback received
• Providing other support to ensure content meets company’s standards
• Proofreading and editing the content before final publication

Qualifications

• Knowledge of at least one foreign language at the intermediate level
• Bachelor’s degree in language acquisition or equivalent area or experience
• Ability to collaborate with existing content structures and workflows
• Experience creating/managing audio and video content is a plus

Innovative Language Learning is looking for a Digital Marketer to develop, implement, track, and optimize our digital marketing campaigns across a number of channels, with a particular emphasis on Google Adwords.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute web, SEO/SEM, and display advertising campaigns
• Measure and report performance of digital marketing campaigns, and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs
• Identify trends and insights, and optimize spend and performance based on the insights
• Plan, execute, and measure experiments and conversion tests

Qualifications

• Proven working experience in digital marketing
• Demonstrable experience in SEO/SEM and display advertising campaigns
• Experience with A/B and multivariate experiments
• Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends)

Product — Product Manager, Testing

The Product Manager, Testing will own the company’s strategic push to position itself as a global language testing provider by creating compelling tests and testing experiences for students.

Job Responsibilities:

The Product Manager, Testing will be responsible for
• Planning and implementing a portfolio of tests that are aligned with the Company’s academic standards
• Curating the Company’s test product across a range of academically-relevant tags and meta-data
• Organizing and/or identifying necessary instructional content
• Collaborating with software team to improve learner experience in meaningful and validated ways
• Documenting tests in such a manner as to be useful to teachers, learners, and interested third parties, such as external Human Resources departments
• Reporting on student engagement with tests and student academic performance

The Product Manager, Testing, will report to the Chief Academic Officer and will be tasked with managing and growing the Testing team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Language Acquisition, or a related field
• One-year experience in working with customers or in a customer-facing role
• Thorough knowledge of language-testing standards, methods, and theory, or an ability to get quickly up-to-speed
• Ability to manage projects, set deadlines, and communicate effectively with teachers and/or content creators
• Passion for helping learners set systematic learning objectives

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience and/or knowledge of multiple standardized tests, such as TOEIC, JLPT, DELF/DALF, and so forth

Teaching — Online Teacher

Remote
We are currently seeking committed online teachers to join our team. As an online teacher, you will be responsible for conducting the online lessons by presenting learning material and guiding students through a given slideshow, communicating with the students and encouraging their participation during the lesson, and providing feedback to the students at the end of each lesson.

The successful applicants should demonstrate the ability to present the learning material to the students in a comprehensive manner, and be committed to facilitate learning in a safe and supportive environment.

We are currently looking for teachers of English, Chinese, Japanese, French, Korean, Spanish, Italian, and German, but please get in touch with us if you're interested in teaching languages other than these!

Online Teacher Responsibilities

The workload for this position is expected to be around 2-3 hours per week per one class. Each class will include up to 5 students. Our next term starts in January, and the class will last 10 weeks in total. Teachers can potentially teach multiple classes during a single ten-week term.

The teachers will be responsible for the following:

• Delivering 1-hour online lessons based on given slideshows; guiding the students through the slideshow by following the directions to the best of their ability.
• Preparing for lessons by reviewing the presentation slideshows prior to each lesson
• Conducting the lessons via Zoom conference calls
• Encouraging student participation during the lesson presentation
• After the lesson is completed, writing feedback for each of the students who participated in the lesson
• Showing up at least 5 minutes before the class begins, and being able to carry out the lesson conference call without technical difficulties
• Monitoring the students performance during the term
• Communicating with students through the Company’s internal messaging system and giving feedback on writing and speaking exercises
• Grading students’ assignments


Online Teacher Requirements

• Prior working experience as a teacher, preferable within a similar environment
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Own laptop or desktop computer equipped with an HD webcam
• Fast and stable internet connection
• Good computer skills
• Punctual and reliable
• Organized and attentive to students’ needs
